Rating: 4.2/5.0

Remington, with this flat iron, appeals to very different hair lengths, as well as the ones who are on a tight budget. It comes with three different sizes; 0.5”, 1” and 1.75”. The smallest size is perfect for short hair types since it can get very close to the roots. The largest one, on the other hand, is really big not only with its width, but also the length of the tool which is much more than average with 4.3”.

Remington Anti-Static Flat Iron, as you can imagine from its name, is confident when it comes to eliminating frizz and flyaways. This anti-static technology is very similar to an ion generator and eliminates negatively charged particles from your strands, which is great for thick strands.

Its plate material is ceramic with titanium coating, which means that it has both of their qualities. It distributes the heat evenly and provides a fast session as well. Talking about speed, it also has a very high maximum temperature which is 450F, and styling is very fast with it. This is one of the reasons why we love this tool for thick hair, but we can’t say the same about fine strands. Its minimum temperature of 310F is too harsh on some fragile hair types and should be avoided if your strands are very thin.

This is a very affordable flat iron. And if you value material quality, it may disappoint you. It lacks some features such as dual voltage, and has a short cable. It does have led display but it doesn’t light up. But other than that, it’s a very lightweight tool with a sleek design and great performance.

Below we share our experiences with “Remington Anti-Static Flat Iron”.

Table Of Contents

Shape And Size

This is a classic flat iron with rounded edges, which successfully avoids snagging. With its floating plates, it glides through your hair easily and doesn’t get stuck. Like most Remington products, it has a sleek design and comfortable to hold. It’s very conveniently shaped if you want to use it to straighten your strands, but we don’t recommend this tool for curling as it’s not really round on the outside. This is a shame because the back of its plates gets really hot, which is great for creating curls.

It comes with three different plate width options which are 0.5”, 1” and 1.75”. The smallest one is really extraordinary and it’s not common to find this size in the market. It can get very close to the roots and provide a very successful session even on the shortest hair styles. It’s also great for bangs. The 1” size is the standard number and every brand offers it. It’s considered very versatile and fits almost all needs. The largest one of 1.75”, is great if you have mid back or longer strands. Combined with this tool’s plate length which is 4.3” and much longer than average, this tool can cover a very large area at one pass. This results in a very fast session on longer hair types, as well as thick hair as large surfaces gets hotter.

Length of the tool is average which is 11”, and won’t bother you with its bulkiness.

Heat And Variable Settings

Variable heat settings is not Remington’s strong suit. It offers 8 temperature options to choose from, which would have been sufficient if the minimum heat wouldn’t have been so high. With 310F, it’s not gentle enough for fragile hair types and may cause heat damage. Combined with its titanium plates, we don’t recommend this tool for fine hair. But if your hair is thick, this tool will highly satisfy you. 450F is one of the highest numbers that you can find in the market and can tame the unruliest strands.

Being a budget tool, it’s not very good at temperature control. The back of its plates get really hot with 220F and its cool tip with 200F. These areas should completely be avoided while using this flat iron as it can easily cause heat damage to your hands. But its handle remains cool enough with only 90F.

Material And Performance

Its material of choice is interesting; ceramic plates with titanium coating. Usually, brands stick to only one material. We like the results of it and it kind of provides the qualities of both materials. Ceramic brings the even heat distribution, eliminating hot and cold pockets. This, speeds up the process as you need fewer passes to style your strands. Titanium adds to its speediness and provides very quick heating and heat recovery as well.

As most budget tools, it doesn’t have the most durable material and can’t compete with its luxury alternatives in this department. It’s a simple tool and doesn’t come with many features. But this is a great tool if you want a fast and efficient session and don’t want to spend a fortune on it.

Features

The most outstanding feature of Remington is its anti-static technology. This feature doubles as ionic technology and works to eliminate frizz from strands. It works by reducing the negatively charged particles from your strands and does a great job with flyaways.

It comes with the usual auto shut-off, which is a technology that turns the tool off after 60 minutes of being used. This is done to make sure to eliminate fire risk.

It doesn’t come with dual voltage, which is a big down side if you want to travel with your tool. But otherwise, it doesn’t matter.

It has a lock switch which makes sure that your tool remains closed while not being used and being carried around in your bag.

Ergonomics

This is pleasantly surprised us when it came to measuring its weight. It’s really lightweight with only 8oz, on the 1” size, and even lighter on the smaller option. This is beneficial if you use your tool for longer periods and want to eliminate arm fatigue. It also makes the tool convinient to carry around if you want to take it to the gym. But since it doesn’t have dual voltage, we don’t recommend travelling with it.

It has a 4.5” handle which is the average size in the market. It’s comfortable to hold and will most likely fit your hands.

It does come with digital temperature control and led display, but the display doesn’t have any light. This makes it a bit hard to see the numbers.

It has a very short cord which is 6ft. If your plug is next to your mirror, it’s long enough to be comfortable, but if not, it can be a problem.

Price And Guarantee

This tool is one of our favourites as far as budget tools go, and it only costs $25. It’s one of the cheapest flat irons on our list and its performance outweighs its price. We obviously think that it has great value.

It comes with a 2-year warranty which is the usual number in the market.

Competition

It’s easy to compete with a budget tool, when it comes to material quality. If you’re one that needs its tool have the highest quality material, Remington won’t satisfy you. In this case, we recommend you to check out BabylissPro Nano Titanium Digital Straightener, which both are extraordinary in terms of durable and sturdy material. Well, of course, you pay for what you get and they cost much more.

If you have fine strands, this tool is not the one for you. Its minimum temperature is way too high to be safe from heat damage. Infinitipro by Conair Tourmaline Ceramic Flat Iron, on the other hand, is perfect for delicate strands with its low minimum heat option of 248F and ceramic material. It also is a very budget friendly tool and appeals to valets.
