People look for different qualities in a flat iron, and if you have medium to long hair and are looking for a very fast and efficient flat iron that can also curl your hair beautifully, Babyliss Prima 3000 may be just what you need.

It has nano titanium technology so it heats up fast and recovers its heat very quickly.

It can go up to high temperatures with a maximum heat of 465°F, which is perfect if you have thick and long hair as you’ll have a super speedy session.

If you have fine hair on the other hand, it may not be the right flat iron for you as the minimum heat setting of 300°F is not safe enough for very fragile strands.

It also has different size options which are 0.75” and 1”, which are suitable for shorter hairstyles.

It’s a luxury product and it comes with a price of $190. We’re well aware that this is not the most affordable tool but if you have the budget for it, it’s worth it. Below we share our experiences with Babylisspro Nano Titanium Prima3000 Ionic Straightener. If you’re curious about the competition, check out the article about best flat irons for black hair.

Table Of Contents

Shape And Size

When we say size, the first and the most important thing we consider in a flat iron is its plates. The width of the plates will make a big difference in the outcome of your session and choosing the right one is crucial.

Babyliss Prima 3000 has a plate width of 1.25” and is considered above medium. It still is a quite versatile size that fits most hair lengths but if your hair is on the shorter side, you may want to consider a smaller plate. You’re in luck as Babyliss Nano Titanium series also have a smaller sized plate which is 0.75”.

Our tool on the other hand, which is 1.25”, is perfect for longer hair. It’s faster and more effective as it can get hotter with its larger surface. This tool is also known to do a decent job at curling your hair and creating beach waves.

It has rounded plate edges that makes sure your curls are perfect. It doesn’t have multi-directional floating plates which is definitely a downside as this feature makes sure your hair keeps perfect contact with the tool at all times.

The length of its plates is 4.35” which is quite average compared to the other flat irons on our list. The length of the tool on the other hand is 12.5” and is the longest on our list. Combined with its heavy weight and thick handle, is not the most travel-friendly flat iron.

Heat And Variable Settings

It’s highly important to choose a flat iron with the right temperature for your hair type and styling needs. The right setting will make all the difference. This tool has 5 different heat settings starting from 300°F, going up till 465°F.

The maximum temperature is definitely high enough to tame unruly strands and does a very fast and efficient job at smoothening the hair.

But the lowest setting is not low enough to be safe for very fine hair. If you have fragile or damaged hair, this tool is not for you and there are many others on our list with a lower setting. FHI Platform Signature Pro Styler for example, has a minimum temperature as low as 140°F which is safe enough for every hair type.

The handle’s heat is 75°F and is low enough to hold for long periods of time. The cool tip on the other hand, reaches up till 123°F after 6 minutes of use and may be too hot for sensitive hands.

It doesn’t have audible warning when it reaches the desired temperature and neither auto shut-off technology. We know that Babyliss hair tools are preferred by professionals and these features are not needed by them. But if you’re a beginner, they can come handy, especially if you want to be as safe as possible with your hot hair tool.

Material And Performance

The plates of Babyliss Prima 3000 are titanium which is a great material if you’re looking for the fastest and most efficient results. Titanium is known for its capacity to heat fast and heat a lot. It can retain its heat and recover it fast as well.

But it’s not the best for fragile strands as it gets hot fast and may cause heat damage if you don’t know what you’re doing with your tool. Beginners should take caution with this product and maybe opt for a ceramic alternative which is much gentler on delicate strands. Chi Original Digital Ceramic Hairstyling Iron is worth considering since it has similar qualities and is much gentler on the hair with its lower minimum heat and ceramic plates.

Babyliss products never surprise us with bad quality. Their hair tools are very sturdy and they last for many years even if they’re use a lot such as in hair salons. That’s why they’re known to be chosen by professionals. Babyliss Prima 3000 is comfortable to hold and endured many tests of ours successfully. It’s a luxury product and you do feel it when you use it.

Ergonomics

Babyliss Prima 3000 is superior in speed and high-quality material but a lightweight design is not its strong suit. With a weight of 13.4 oz, is the heaviest flat iron on our list. Now this can be a good thing if you’re looking for an extra sturdy product and trust your arms with their strength. But arm fatigue is real while using hair tools and if you want to avoid it, you may want to consider another option.

The diameter of its handle is 4.7” and is the thickest one on our list. It may be too large for small hands and worth reconsidering your option if this is your case.

It has a 9 ft swivel cord, which is one of the longest sizes in the market. It has dual voltage to ensure that it works anywhere in the world to make it more travel friendly.

Price And Guarantee

Babyliss Prima 3000 is a luxury tool and it has a luxury price of $190. It’s an investment to make and what you invest on is its sturdy and durable material and efficient and fast results.

It has a limited 4-year guarantee and is considered above average since most hot hair tools come with 2 years.

We love this tool and its material is top quality but, in our opinion, $190 is slightly overpriced, unless you’re a professional that want to use this tool to its maximum capacity. But if you want to gift yourself some luxury and you are in the position to afford it, we say why not?

Competition

If you want to have more define curls or waves, you shoul prefer Babylisspro Nano Titanium Prima3100 Ionic Straightener. The Prima3100 shares all the same features as the Prima3000 but with a 0.25″ larger barrel size.
